The Introduction to Green woodworking courses we run give you the opportunity to learn basic green woodworking techniques using traditional tools and create small wooden items. This course is for the complete novice who has never had any Green woodworking experience or has never used traditional handtools.
The course includes - choosing suitable timber, trimming, cleaving, shaving and using a workbreak
You will be shown how to build a workbreak and use traditional tools including a side axe, drawknife and froe. You will make a small maul and another item which you can take home with you at the end of the course.
The courses take place in the dappled shade of our secluded woodland workshop and training area at Ravenshill Nature reserve. The training area has a woodland shelter, a large flat activity area, kitchen and Compost toilets.
All tools and materials from which you will create your structures are provided.
Hand tools are available to purchase
Drinks and lunch which is cooked on an open fire are provided. These are included in the course fee.
The price is £80 for a one day course including materials and lunch.
There is a maximum of 3 people on this course.
Our courses take place at Ravenshill Woodland Reserve, Alfrick, Worcestershire, which is a 50 acre privately owned nature reserve, which has a patchwork of diverse habitat including many indicator species of ancient semi-natural woodland. It has both deciduous and various conifer species.
